All members are required to adhere to the following:
Agree to serve with out personal financial gain
" Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
" Have a telephone
" Have a personal vehicle
" Have a NYS drivers license
" Have a current CPR certification as a minimum
" Fulfill the continuing medical education requirements as outlined by NYS Emergency Medical
Services to maintain certification
" Annually complete the "Medical Approval" form
" Be physically and mentally capable of performing and enduring the requirements of an
effective Emergency Services Provider
" Successfully complete the required orientation and training program
" Learn and abide by COCVAC's Constitution and ByLaws
" Learn and abide by COCVAC's Best Practice Guidelines which includes but is not limited to the
following:
o Fulfill mandatory shift requirements of at least twenty-four (24) hours per month on duty at
headquarters on as regular of a schedule as possible
o Be neat, clean and display mature professional conduct at all times
o Be in uniform while on duty
o Learn COCVAC's operating territory
o Safely drive all COCVAC's vehicles as appropriate
o Effectively and professionally use the radios and paging system
o Effectively and professionally answer the emergency and business phones
o Be responsible for keeping all facilities, vehicles and equipment clean, neat and in good
working condition
o Restock supplies used and report missing or broken supplies and equipment
