Education
Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a leader EMS Education in the Midstate EMS Region. In addition to a variety of EMT Classes, COCVAC conducts Defensive Driving, Babysitting Certification, and CPR Classes for the general public. As of 2011, regardless of class location and affiliation, all EMT students who attain their certification within this EMS Region will conduct their ambulance rotation/ride time at COCVAC.
EMT and Critical Care Classes
There are many agencies that offer EMT and Critical Care Classes within the Midstate EMS Region, however COCVAC and our educators have repeatedly been recognized as a leaders in EMS Education. From a variety of Emergency Medical Technician and Critical Care Classes to the first of its kind Online Recertification our instructors provide both the classroom knowledge and hands on skills needed to have a successful EMS Career.
Although classes are held at COCVAC all registration must be completed through the Midsate EMS Website. An EMT Class is at minimum $700, want to avoid that fee and gain experience? Become a Volunteer today! Members of certified volunteer agencies, such as COCVAC, receive free tuition through the State of New York.
EMT Ambulance Rotation
As of 2011, regardless of class location and affiliation, all EMT students who attain their certification within the Midstate EMS Region will conduct their ambulance rotation/ride time at COCVAC. This is due to the volume of calls COCVAC receives, over 3,000 a year, and ensures that each EMT student throughout the region receives a similar ambulance rotation experience.
